avAltimeter is a comprehensive digital altimeter designed for aviation purposes. One of its standout features is the inclusion of the Kollsman adjustment, allowing users to customize the altimeter based on the current barometric setting or the standard 29.92 inches of mercury pressure altitude. The app leverages cutting-edge Apple and Bosch technology found in iPhone models from 6 and onwards, ensuring accuracy and reliability in altitude measurements.

The application's functionality extends to calculating Density Altitude, providing valuable insights into True Airspeed relative to Indicated Airspeed. Furthermore, avAltimeter offers an estimate of the additional Take-Off distance required at varying Density Altitude levels, enhancing flight planning capabilities.

For enhanced safety measures, the app monitors altitude changes and issues alerts when exceeding FAA-mandated oxygen requirements, promoting adherence to aviation regulations.

avAltimeter prioritizes user preferences through its customizable interface, allowing for the selection of Imperial or Metric units, adjustment of Altimeter Settings via a Kollsman window or direct altitude input, and manual or GPS-based field altitude configuration. Users can personalize illumination settings for day or night operation, enable or disable audio alarms for oxygen alerts, and enhance take-off performance estimates by specifying propeller type.

The integration of a Bosch sensor chip in iPhone models 6 and above grants avAltimeter high sensitivity to altitude changes down to three feet with an operational range spanning from -1500 feet up to over 20,000 feet.

A standout feature is the app's reliance on actual barometric pressure for altitude calculations rather than GPS estimates, a unique aspect setting it apart from other aviation applications. Notably, avAltimeter requires an iPhone model 6 or later, iPad Air 2 or Mini 4, or any iPad Pro variant for optimal performance due to the presence of a built-in barometer.
